Informative PROFIBUS PROFINET and IO-Link seminarFree Seminar – MTC Coventry – Thursday February 25, 2016

Back by popular demand, this free-to-attend seminar addresses the key practical issues arising from the use of digital communications technologies in automated manufacturing and process industry applications.

Covering the use of PROFIBUS, PROFINET and IO-Link in key application areas such as pulp & paper, chemical, utilities, pharmaceutical, packaging, printing, electrical and electronics assembly, robotics, automotive engineering, mechanical handling and logistics, control systems and energy management, it focuses on the practical aspects of using advanced networking technologies from system design and safety considerations through to maintenance and fault-finding.

Supported by demonstrations of actual tools used in configuration and maintenance, the seminar will be of great value to Designers, Production/System Engineers, Instrument Technicians/Engineers and C&I Engineers involved in design, operation and maintenance of modern automated factories and process plant.

Standardised in IEC 61158, PROFIBUS and PROFINET provide state of the art digital communications addressing all the needs of manufacturing and process industries, significantly lowering capital expenditure on installation, commissioning and maintenance. They offer unprecedented integration of automation, control, monitoring and safety systems using standardised and widely supported communications and networking solutions.

IO-LINK is an independent sensor/actuator interface solution for use with several industrial fieldbus and industrial network solutions, including PROFIBUS and PROFINET. The presentation will provide an introduction to this technology, the types of devices available, how they are parameterised and how they are integrated within a programmable control system.

This seminar is ably presented by specialists from PI UK member companies. Attendance is free of charge to pre-registered delegates from the User community, i.e. companies that own, operate, design, build or maintain automated plant. The event will provide delegates with an excellent networking opportunity and the ability to speak to our experts whom, we promise, will not force you to buy anything.

Informative PROFIBUS PROFINET and IO-Link seminar“It was a great seminar, very interesting and it gave me kind of new knowledge basis”

That was the comment from Manuel Polonia who had travelled all the way from Italy just to attend this event. For Manuel and some 40 other engineers who attended PI UK’s seminar at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre at the University of Sheffield, Wednesday October 14th was a truly memorable day.

The first event of its type in the UK, this free-to-attend seminar addressed the key practical issues arising from the use of digital communications technologies in automated manufacturing and process industry applications.

Covering the use of PROFIBUS, PROFINET and IO-Link in key application areas such as pulp & paper, chemical, utilities, pharmaceutical, packaging, printing, electrical and electronics assembly, robotics, automotive engineering, mechanical handling and logistics, control systems and energy management, the seminar focused on the practical aspects of using these technologies, from system design and safety considerations through to maintenance and fault-finding.

Supported by demonstrations of the actual tools used in configuration and maintenance, these seminar are of great value to Designers, Production/System Engineers, Instrument Technicians/Engineers and C&I Engineers involved in design, operation and maintenance of modern automated factories and process plant.

Here are a few more comments from attendees:

  • Very interesting event, concise yet informative
  • Good presentations, very informative
  • Excellent content.
  • Very well put together event and very well presented
  • Very interesting – learnt a lot about current and upcoming topics
  • Topics discussed were spot on!
  • Very good – increased my understanding of Profibus/Profinet
  • Great! Presented very well, and very well understood from my point of view. New to this field of engineering.

Don’t miss our next seminar!

Following the undoubted success of this event, PI UK will be organising a number of follow up events during 2016. Click here to join the mailing list to ensure that you are kept informed of when and where these will be.

Free seminar on PROFINET, PROFIBUS and IO-Link

Sheffield 14th October

A presentation on PROFINET network acceptance testing is the latest addition to the agenda of our ever-popular seminar series.

PROFINET Qualification-Peter ThomasLike its predecessor PROFIBUS, PROFINET is a diagnostic-rich protocol allowing your support team to quickly identify the source of device-related problems. This however is of limited use if the underlying performance of your network is poor. PROFINET networks are often seen as the plug and play solution for industrial networks, giving you the impression that successful completion of your application-specific testing is a guarantee that your network is working efficiently and without errors. This is fundamentally wrong and needs to be considered at the design stage as well as the acceptance stage of a project. This presentation will discuss the issues, how to address them and give typical examples of the equipment required.
