These organisations are PI Training Centres (PITCs), authorised by PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI) to deliver PI’s certified courses leading to internationally-recognised accreditation.

PROFIBUS Courses

Certified PROFIBUS Installer

An essential course for electrical engineers and technicians needing to upgrade their skills to include fieldbus installation. This one-day, hands-on course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete PROFIBUS networks including DP, PA and optical fibre technology. Covering bus layout and termination, grounding rules and practices, the course will teach delegates how to avoid common, but potentially expensive, installation problems.

PROFIBUS Commissioning & Maintenance Course

The one-day PROFIBUS Commissioning and Maintenance course provides an intermediate level of training covering commissioning, health-checking, fault-finding and maintenance techniques for application on operational PROFIBUS systems. The course covers the practical use of a modern analyser and high-speed oscilloscope to fault-find and health check operating PROFIBUS networks. The course also covers the use of a Class1/2 master to test and exercise devices. The course deals with DP and PA technology in a practical, hands-on environment. Details of the protocol are not covered in this course. This one-day course does not incorporate any assessments and is not PI-accredited.

Please note that the Certified PROFIBUS Installer course is an essential prerequisite for the Commissioning and Maintenance course. Those that have not already taken Installer training can take the Installer course together with the Commissioning and Maintenance course as a two-day option.

Certified PROFIBUS Engineer Course

This is an in-depth course covering PROFIBUS DP and PA network operation, design, commissioning and live fault-finding. The course covers basic cyclic data exchange (so-called DP-V0) and DP-V1 extensions that are used in PA devices and more complex DP devices. Most of the course is involved with understanding and interpreting the various telegrams that pass between devices. It is a world-wide recognised training program, standardised by PROFIBUS International.  The Certified PROFIBUS Installer course is an essential pre-requisite to attending this course.

PROFINET Commissioning & Maintenance

The one-day PROFINET Commissioning and Maintenance course provides an intermediate level of training for technicians and engineers who are involved with commissioning, health checking and fault finding on operational PROFINET systems.

It is not a PI certified course but is very important in understanding of PROFINET applications and engineering practice. Attendance at the CPNI course is prerequisite.

Certified PROFINET Engineer

This training course provides a detailed technical knowledge of the PROFINET technology and the advantages it offers your automation and production processes. At the end of the training there will be a theory exam. Participants who pass get the title Certified PROFINET Engineer and are awarded an official certificate. Successful participants will have the confidence to evaluate PROFINET as a solution for their automation requirements and be able to design a proper application.
